The Root is a South African biotechnology commercialisation company. We develop regulated health technologies and products within the SAHPRA scheduling framework. We work with universities, research institutions, funders, manufacturers and healthcare partners.
South Africa generates strong scientific research but imports most of its finished medicine. Research developed and published locally is bought back as imported product. The Root exists to close that gap and retain the value of local science.
